Richer for Richmond

Having some familiarity with the news media, I can't help but shake my head after reading a story in the SF Chronicle about retiring KTVU news anchor Dennis Richmond.
In a business that is consultant driven and caters to the dumbest members of its audience, I was amazed to read that he anchored the news for 32 years! That isn't a lifetime in the tv news business, it's several lifetimes.
His quote at the end of the article, I think, sums up his belief about what the news business should be:
"What I gave you was what was going on in the world at the moment. How you wanted to deal with it was always up to you."
