I shopped, I dropped

I hate shopping. There is no better way to put it.
Groceries, furniture and especially clothing.
I buy groceries, occassionally, because I have to eat.
I have very little furniture, in part, because that would require shopping for furniture. It's not just the paying for it, it's the driving to the store, walking around, trying to decide what to buy, then paying for it and bringing it home.

Clothes are the absolute worst.
This afternoon I left work a little early to hit the mall, in search of some pants.
On my scale of hating shopping, with buying ice cream from a truck that drives past my house being 1, pants shopping rates an 11. That's because you have to take off your shoes AND the pants you wore in.

I parked. I walked. I visited four stores and tried on ten pairs. I wasted an hour and a half. Sizes are meaningless. Many tags list the color as #27. The only thing that would have made it worse was if someone asked to help me. Any help I need while pants shopping will come from a bartender, not a store clerk.

I know I'm not alone in my hatred of pants shopping. But given the number of naked people I see walking around, I know most simply play the game. You put up with the hassle because you really have no choice.

Postscript: I set out again in search of pants. I had a small lunch before going to the store and visited a men's clothing store chain, where I found a pair that was reasonably priced and fit on the first try. Figuring luck was with me, I then went to a department store and found a fit with the second pair I tried on. Hopefully my pants "issues" are solved for the time being.
