While walking along in Coos Bay, Oregon, I saw what I thought was a church. It is actually a prayer chapel, which is something I was not familiar with. The idea is that if you are walking down the street and feel a strong need to pray or reflect, you just go inside and start praying. While there is a steeple on top and, inside, a cross and stained glass, it is a somewhat non-denominational building. Various religious organizations have pamphlets lying on a raised step inside that seems to act as the altar.
While taking pictures I keep thinking of this as sort of a religious person's telephone booth. I also wondered if the building saw more use since a casino opened down the road.
